INFORMATION ON REHOMING A DOG
At Tails of Gray, our ultimate goal is to see the dog remain in their home as cherished family members. However, we understand that there are times in life when situations are beyond your control. While senior dogs at risk in shelters are always our priority, we will make every effort to help you. Under certain circumstances, we may consider accepting your dog into Tails of Gray if there is an available foster home. If we can help place your dog, we will contact you.
When emailing about a dog needing a new home, please include as much information about the dog as possible, along with photos and the reason for rehoming. Please advise on name, location, breed, age, gender, spayed or neutered, medical or behavioral issues, dog and/or cat friendly, and how soon the dog needs a new home. Please tell us everything that you can about the dog.

Due to the high volume of rehoming requests we receive on a daily basis, unless you don't have email access, please email the requested information before calling.

Please remember that we are a private sanctuary and visits are by appointment only. We are located in the East Bay in Northern California. If you are interested in meeting one of our senior dogs, please complete an online application and a volunteer from our Adoption Team will help coordinate a meeting.

Please provide us with the necessary information to place your animal on our website. You will need to provide at minimum their name, age, weight, health status, reason for rehoming, and one good photograph. Please provide your contact information for potential adopters to contact you directly.
